So, two Portuguese doctors visiting England, leave their three children in their Hotel room?

While they go out to dine, they can't take the children with them, as the Bar they go to is not at all child friendly, However, although they're only gone for a couple of hours, and check on the kids once, one of the children disappears, What do you think the headlines in the British Press would be ?So, two Portuguese doctors visiting England, leave their three children in their Hotel room?
The Daily express- 'Non- christian foreigners leave child unattended.'

The Sun- 'Caught-u-gal. Foreigners proven untrustworty.'

The Times- 'Girl kidnapped. Time for RFID chips?'

Sky News- 'Portugese girl abducted- Al Qaeda suspected.

The Mirror- 'As another young girl is kidnapped we ask; should we not be willing to give up more freedoms for liberty'

The Star- 'Hot Portugese Doctor bares all to raise awareness for something or other'

Over in the states- FOX NEWS- 'In a show of solidarity, Bush tells all that he will 'get the terrorist' that stole young Portugese girl. Does not rule out tactical nuking of Britain.'

The Independent- 'Global warming expected as likely culprit in dissapearance of young girl. Experts claim she may have simply evaporated, and that more evaporations are imminent unless we only look at one side of this complex debate'So, two Portuguese doctors visiting England, leave their three children in their Hotel room?
Hypothetically they would be vilified by the Press and banged up faster than you can say ';Meet you at the Tapas Bar';. This hypocrisy and media whitewashing is appalling, and so obvious. I think the Press may have backed the wrong horses here.

Oh and Caesar's Wife? Who REALLY needs to be told not to leave their kids alone? Anyone arrogant and stupid enough to do that shouldn't be allowed to be a parent anyway. I don't need to learn from the McCann's stupidity, even though I never finished Uni I have common sense. It's a pity the McCann's don't, isn't it?

Edit: Paul F, absolutely SPOT ON! 100% What would the Telegraph headline be?
I hate to say this, but it does happen here. I do know people who did just that - left their kids sleeping while they went downstairs to the restaurant to eat. As though they were at home.

I think this is the lesson to be learnt from the whole story - don't leave your children alone anywhere.
We all know what they would be Jack. Thats the hyprocrisy of the British media for you.

And it would be full of comments like 'The English would never do something like that with our children'

Its pathetic.

And to think the English media is having a pop at the Portugese media for their one sided view on the McCanns. And they still fail to see the hypocrisy.

Honestly its pathetic, and I wish I could speak to a few journalists to tell them that face to face.
Never actually thought of it that way Jack! But you can guarantee that the British press would have absolutely and totally CRUCIFIED the parents and they would have been charged with, at the very least, neglect.
If the McCanns DO happen to be found guilty of harming Maddy then we can all get ready for a barrage of front page stories all dishing the dirt on them ,which have been stored up in the editing rooms because you're not telling me the British tabloids haven't been digging around in the background for scandal.
I hope it never happens.
It depends on if they lived in a Council House.
yes have a star
haha

they're wouldnt be one

oh the hypocrisy
Good question, have a star!
The English press would have a field day with this one,

PORTUGUESE DOCTORS, NEGLECT KIDS ( would be the headlines )

So why have they not done the same with the Mcanns?

Do the Mcanns have friends in high places?

Have a star.
they would be slated and dragged through the gutter as they should be.good question Jack have a star x
They have a strong sense of family in Portugal and so wouldn't leave their kids so that they could go out for a meal.

However the hypothetical head line would be

DOCTORS NEGLECT THEIR KIDS IN FAVOUR OF MEAL!

or something equally as tarnishing.
I do not think that the Portuguese people are as stupid as that..their culture is far more child friendly and they do not regard their kids as accessories that they can profit from..
hmmm food for thought....no pun intended

abroad resorts cater for families %26amp; its not unusual for families dining out together on a night, but I dont think we do enough in restuarants etc for families in this county on a night time at least, during the day places will accept children %26amp; up to a certain time say 8pm or so. but with regard to your Portugese Drs as Dave S said Brittish press can be hypocritical over certain situations.
To answer your question indirectly, in the UK taking your kids with you to certain restaurants and pubs late at night is either frowned on or not allowed. In many cases parents don't like going out late at night with their children. Where I live in Spain, and Portugal is the same, kids are a part of the family. If grandma isn't available to look after the kids then the kids go to. Most restaurants, especially on a Saturday night and quite late have whole families including very young children dining.

Family life is so much different here. Crimes against children within society here are way lower than they are in the UK.
Have a star jack

I'm all for spinning a story around so that people can see the point . . . I often do that with the kids I work with as a trick to teach empathy - it can be very effective . . .

Headline in the sun no doubt would have been overtly racist, the others? Maybe a bit more covert but still, they wouldn't have had the support thats for sure.
Brilliant question but dread to think
';So, two Portuguese doctors visiting England, leave their three children in their Hotel room?';

This of course means that they are obviously gulity of killing their child, dumping her body and no doubt angered by the poilicy of the restaurant, the friends join in the cover up.
