We are both Lebanese. Can we stay in one hotel room in Egypt?

I am sure you will find most hotels will ask for proof of a marriage certificate or at least a marriage contract.

You can obtain a ';temporary marriage contract'; for around 200LE ,this is I believe, the price usually charged for tourists.

Although there are now some 5* + hotels and hotels at the other end of the scale who will allow a couple to stay in a room without any proof of marriage temporary or otherwise, but most do still uphold the Islamic law which applies in all Muslim countries. We are both Lebanese. Can we stay in one hotel room in Egypt?
fine with me.We are both Lebanese. Can we stay in one hotel room in Egypt?
go get the room ,man.
Huh?
Of course. I went to Egypt, and, in hotels, it doesn't matter if your nationality is different or not from your roommate ;)
are you referring to the close proximity syariah law?

I assume you are an unmarried couple. You can always check with the Egyptian Embassy.

It shouldn't apply if you are both Christians.

To Ryan:

You are entitled to your own opinion even if that means you are making an *** of yourself.

Do not make pass any judgement on things you know nothing about. It is obvious you don't even know what the hell I am referring to.

To those of you unfamiliar, the close proximity syariah law is an Islamic Law which prohibits the close proximity between the opposite sex - not even the holding of hands or kissing in public, let alone being permitted to be in the same room(except if the couple is married to each other - because according to Islam such acts are deemed unpious and thus unholy (un-Islamic).

However this only applies to Muslims because the syariah law has no jurisdiction over non-Muslims,Egyptian Christians, Palestine Christians or LEBANESE CHRISTIANS.

So, if the asker is in doubt of the legality, why not cotact the Egyptian Embassy to enquire?

Obviously, you need to spend more time living in Egypt.

By the way, although I am agnostic by persuasion, I hail from a Muslim country, but don't get me wrong.unlike you, I don't imply to be an expert. So, this is only my humble opinion.

Have a great day yourself.
For Arab nationals they usually expect to see a marriage certificate or proof you are married, but for Westerners who don't bother to get married any more, they know it is part of their culture. It depends on the hotel you might be able to get away with it. Especially if it is a big international one.

For the idot who says you shouldn't apply if you are Christian, Egypt has a huge Christian population that live side by side in peace with their fellow Muslim country men and women.
ur lezbians! yay! dude u should so stay in the same room...and video tape it.

Oh u said lebanese....umm..still tape it!
