Which is cheaper purchasing a hotel room online or at the desk??

Would it be cheaper to purchase a hotel room online (travelling to a different city) or to look for a hotel room once we get there??Which is cheaper purchasing a hotel room online or at the desk??
You do NOT 'purchase' a hotel room, dear, you only rent it !

...Though usually online bookings cost the same as a desk booking [very few hotels charge an extra fee for online bookings], they are actually cheaper in reality !

Imagine reaching this new city and running around from one hotel to another, looking for rooms - only to find that none are available. And finally finding one, with a rent that is way beyond your budget !...

The commuting costs apart, for want of any other alternative, you will be forced to pay more for the room...

No such problem with online bookings : Most hotels offer full details about the rooms they provide - and since you're booking in advance, you can very well afford to do some virtual 'running around' [which does not cost you any money !], until you find one that suits both your need, and pocket !Which is cheaper purchasing a hotel room online or at the desk??
online, use Hotels.com they have a $100 Cash Back offer at http://www.giantcodes.com/Travel/Hotels-鈥?/a>
Try calling the desk directly. You might be surprised that the dest is cheaper, and could also have some specials.
ONline is definatley the way to go, you would think it is cheaper to go to the desk but its not. you can get a great deal on priceline for last minute travel
This really does depend. The hotel sets the rates on the Internet for all of the rooms that they sell. While you may think that sometimes you are getting an excellent deal on-line often the same deal can be achieved at the hotel. Typically travel zoo.com offers really cheap hotel room and these can save you a bundle, but these are also managed by the hotels. They are only good for a certain time period and often there is only a short amount of ti,e for you to make the reservation to get the special deal. While most travel sites like Orbitz and Hotwire will save you a few dollars on your room if you pay in advance with no refund, with these sites you are not guaranteed to receive a specific room type. Most of the time with these reservations, it is whatever the hotel has left on the date of your arrival.
Depends on where you go to. Usually on-line is cheaper, but if you travel around South-East Asia, like Thailand or Vietnam, you can get better rates when you get there. Can you believe it? You can bargain there even in the hotels!!!!
Hi you may want try this link for GREAT hotel deals which I did and save me quite a lump sum when I was travelling recently.
