Best way to get a hotel room price break. Any tips or advice. Things that have worked for you.?

Two sites have saved me thousands of dollars (yes, I said thousands) - I travel frequently.


The main one is: http://www.priceline.com


You can name your price and I usually get rooms for at least 50% of the normal rates, sometimes much less.


The other site I use is: http://www.hotwire.com/ This site you don't have to bid - they will list the low prices that they have negotiated. You can get really good deals on 2 and 3 star hotels on Hotwire. My favorite is La Quinta. Very nice 2 star hotel that has new properties, in good areas of towns and with the amenities that I like.

I always search around and compare prices on the hotel's actual website and sites like Travelocity, Hotels.com, Orbitz, etc. Sometimes the travel websites have deals where you can get a certain percentage off of certain hotels. Hotels will offer price breaks for staying a certain number of nights as well (stay 5 nights but only pay for 4, etc).





You can also try googling for hotel discount coupon codes. I recently booked a two night, hotel stay through Orbitz. Orbitz was offering the cheapest fair for the hotel I chose. On top of that I found a coupon code online for a $35 discount off a two night or more stay booked through Orbitz.

The best way is to walk up to the desk after 6PM and ask for a discount after they quote you the price.
